How do I.D.s (Identity Development sessions) work?

I.D.s (Identity Development Sessions) are derived from Identity Constellations using the sentence of intention, developed by Prof. Dr. Franz Ruppert in Munich, Germany.

I.D.s begin with a person (the subject) briefly talking about what he/she deeply wants, i.e. “I want to be happy,” "I want a loving relationship,” “I want to be wealthy," etc. Some people choose to  elaborate on what it is that they want, giving details about their lives, however this is not necessary. Often I.D.s move more quickly when the want or concern is all that is known, unencumbered by other information.

Then, the subject's concerns are formulated into the sentence of intention, which is written on a board so that (if it is in a group setting) everyone can see it throughout the process.

The subject then chooses members in the group to be “resonators” of each word. If there are five words, five people are chosen.

The five resonators are then asked to enter the central area with the client. What happens next is hard to explain if one approaches this process from a Newtonian (rather than a “quantum”) perspective, although common sense might suggest we are far more capable of “sensing” the core issues of someone if we really pay attention.

This hyper attention is essentially what happens to resonators - they begin to sense an aspect of the subject through the word they have been given.

For five to ten minutes, no words are spoken, only movement and non-verbal sounds. Almost without exception, powerful feelings and thoughts surface involving the subject’s sentence of intention.

After the non-verbal phase these thoughts and feelings are shared with the subject. This part of the process of sharing begins to have an effect on the other resonators, creating new dynamics between the group, which gives further insight and experiences to the subject.

Much of what emerges involves past family dynamics that still affect and/or block the subject’s  ability to implement this sentence of intention.

Here is the 14 minute edited video of an I.D. session (called IoPT in Europe) from which some of the above images have been taken.

While I.D.s are not therapy nor a substitute for therapy, it should be noted that this process forces powerful feelings and insights to the surface. It is not easy, which is why we strongly recommend that participants work with a licensed therapist to help integrate the results of I.D.s into daily life.

It is also important to focus on body work - exercise, informed diet, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic adjustment and other forms of body healing, including Western medicine when necessary.

After an Identity Development session, the Institute’s facilitator will be available by phone, if necessary, to help process the material that emerges.

What is fascinating is that anyone can do this work. Everyone of us seems able to resonate the dynamics of another human being when presented with a genuine sentence of intention.

How is this possible?

When one examines quantum physics it can be hypothesized that we are - at core - bundles of pure energy. This begins to allow for at least a partial explanation. All of us radiate vast amounts of energy, which everyone senses whether we want to admit it or not. There are also insights emerging from the research and clinical work involving mirror neurons, morphogenetics, some aspects of epigenetics and work with indigenous healing methods.

When Prof. Dr. Ruppert is asked for an explanation, he notes that one form of scientific methodology is observing a process that constantly presents with the same result. I.D.s and IoPT work have been proven to achieve consistent results.

Each Identity Development session lasts for approximately an hour. Generally there is a moment when it is clear that the subject and resonators have gone as far as is appropriate.

This is extremely important. Here Dr. Gabor Maté discusses the safety of these sessions.

One of the primary tenets of  I.D.s is that the subject move at his/her own pace. No one is pushed or manipulated because the primary goal of  an Identity Development Session is to strengthen the “I” (the identity), to strengthen the core of the subject, freeing him/her from fears, past traumas as well as psychological and physiological repercussions that have so often haunted the subject throughout life.

All we need to process traumas is stored in our body and appears in this practice when we need it.
